Moving forward
"The children are exceptionally well prepared for the next stage of their learning."
(OFSTED Report January 2019)
The transition into ‘Big School’ represents a major step in a child’s life and we are mindful of the significance of this moment for our older pre-schoolers and their parents. We therefore work closely with Longtown Community Primary School and other schools to ensure that this transition is as smooth as possible, preparing our children emotionally and developmentally for primary school.
Here are some of the ways in which we support our transition:
- We practice getting dressed into school uniform and talk about why people wear uniforms in their professions
- We have set up a highly effective buddy system so that the children are paired with older pupils at the school who seek them out and welcome them in the playground and ensure that they are happy
- We have lunch in the school every day
