You've got to be in it, to win it!
At Longtown, our aim is that every child is in school for every session.
We have a statutory obligation to monitor attendance and report on it to the Department for Education.
Absence from school can seriously disrupt your child’s learning. Not only do they miss the teaching provided on the days they are away but they also have to simultaneously catch up and keep up on their return. This leads to a risk of underachievement which together we should be trying to avoid.
Children whose attendance falls below 90% are Persistently Absent from school, where as a child who falls under 50% attendance will be classified as a Severely Absent child.
